The 3rd Eye - by Dickson

The Friday 4pm Thrill

Friday is one of the most looked forward to days of the week here at KICS, this mainly due to the F.E.L (Friday Evening League).  As people are planning for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), some of us are planning for how our busy week will end with the Friday Evening League (F.E.L) as I would like to call it . Seeing our boys and girls battle it out against their opponents of Youth For Christ, in one of the most enticing games (soccer) known to man, we all felt this was the time for our boys to shine. Over the last few games our players have shown improvement from the first game to the one against Youth for Christ.

The display that these “Lets go KICS” players showed, as most fans like chanting even our opponent’s fans was so impeccable. The game begun  on a low note for the Our side as we coincided 3 goals in the 1st half , then comes the second where even me as a soccer coach didn’t understand what formation our South African Wenger (Mr. Husted) and American  Jose Mourinho (Mr Mosher) were using , Tanner and KC as centeral midfielders reminded me of the Makelele and Partrick Viera era, these two boys made Youth for Christ boys look like kindergarten players, playing against high schoolers  with a tight midfield, while supplying endless balls to both Arnold and Jordan our goal scorers of the day. It was as if Anorld and Jordan were on a mission to create holes in between the legs of the Youth for Christ players .

On the other side we fans thought that the Man of the Match Award should change to the "Lady of the Match" with how Rhodas was defending against giants, that’s when we were reminded of the David and Goliath story in the bible, she made football look easy, like ABC reciting  for a 5th grader.  Alvin was “The New Casillas” as I personally thought he had Super Glue on his hands, making it difficult for the opponents to score in the second half. Adam as usual with is “Sol Campbell” defending skills built a fortress at the back, with the help of "Roberto Carlos", "Senior Saha" and “Ricardo Carvalho”, Antoine fully backed by  “The Mighty Great Rhodas”. The likes of Samuel (who played as a winger this time) and Dorian also showed exceptional skills as they constantly drove the ball successfully into the Youth for Christ backline time and time again.

At the end of the game KICS came from 3 goals down in the first half, to a final score of 3-2. Mr. Davenport commented that in a sense, we won the second half, which created a new perspective for me. I can sit down and give details about the whole game but I would prefer that you come and experience the Friday Evening League (F.E.L) with me as we sing “Let’s Go KICS, Let’s Go” who knows? Let’s keep it up.
